EXPLANATION
I. The Musical Evolution Committee is made up of musicians who believe that music should be written & performed without the burden of a repressive and creatively irresponsible music industry. TMEC is also a way to introduce the public to talented artists that aren't necessarily "top 40 material," and might otherwise not be heard. TMEC also asserts that the artist who writes original music has the right to own the copyright in their music. Too often, this is not the case.
II. TMEC serves as a self-sufficient forum of peers for the artists & groups involved, providing not only musical & non-musical support, but also music itself. There is no good reason for artists to be separated from one another because of legal or financial burdens. This is another fault of the music industry, which has been accurately described by musician Robert Fripp as being an industry, "founded on exploitation, oiled by deceit, riven with theft, and fueled by greed."
III. TMEC artists are encouraged to be creative and unattached to the oppressive & limiting notes of popular music. (aka: "top 40, pop, etc.) There will always be popular music, whether it is tasteful or trashy. Unfortunately, the latter is usually the case. But to write something creative, self-gratifying & lasting is not only more ethical, but more special.
There is more to be added to the section & this site. It will be added over time. If you are a group or artist that is interested in joining TMEC, please review the entire site and the artists associated with us. Then, find your way to the joining area to fill out an application.
